Vance Astro is a Marvel Comics character originating from an alternate future timeline. He first appeared in *Marvel Super-Heroes* #18 (January 1969).
Driven by the dream of interstellar exploration, Vance volunteered for Project Starjump, a NASA mission to Alpha Centauri. Due to the immense distance, he was placed in suspended animation for the centuries-long journey. His body was sustained by a copper alloy suit.
Upon arrival, Vance discovered humanity had already reached Alpha Centauri via faster-than-light travel. Disappointed but resilient, he joined the original Guardians of the Galaxy, adopting the codename Captain Galaxy and utilizing his telekinetic abilities.
